I Wish You Were There
I wish you were there when I cried out,
Wondering where my life had gone wrong.
A mournful feeling filled my soul,
No longer did it sing a happy song.

I wish you were there when I fell down,
When I couldn't get my feet under me
I couldn't see where I was going,
Blindly stumbling, asking, "Where could I be?"

I wish you were there when you died,
I didn't want to believe that you were gone.
I saw you in the casket, so still and white,
I couldn't bear the fact your life was done.

I wish you were there to dry the tears,
To tell me it was okay, you never died.
But my dreams will never be realized,
For I know that my heart has never lied...
