Rocking Chair
I sit here in my rocking chair
and watch the world go by
I think of you my loved one
and I'm so lonesome I could cry
I think of the good times that we had
the laughter and the tears
but we weathered them together
through many happy years
the lord then came to see us
this is what he had to say
one of you must go
but the other one must stay
so you was the one he chose to go
and I was left behind
he needed you up in heaven
to help with his overtime
but one day soon he'll come for me
he'll take me by the hand
and say, someone's waiting for you
up there in the promise land
he'll walk me up those golden stairs
untill we reach heaven's door
and you will be there waiting
never to part no more.
we'll walk among the angels
hand in hand, we'll be
no more tears, no more heartache
throughout eternity

Death's Dream
last night as I lay dreaming
I dreamed that I was dead
I floated up to heaven
with a halo on my head
I drifted through the pearly gates
on clouds of fleecy white
I walked among the angels
it was a lovely sight
I walked through hills and valleys
on the streets all paved in gold
then I came upon a stranger
standing by the road
I stopped and asked directions
to the mansion of the lord
and said that if he had the time
with him I'd like a word
then the stranger smiled at me
he shed a tear or two
go back he said, you can't stay here
you've still worldly things to do
go back along your pathway
cast away your sins
give your love to Jesus
then you may enter in
then the mist began to fade
the stranger too it seamed
then I awoke and found it all
had only been a dream
