CAMDEN PALACE
CELEBRITY PHOTO ARCHIVE 2
Its not every day you get to go to the Palace!
The Camden Palace in North London,  that is, playground of the stars. The Palace is pop´s top night club, where some of the biggest names in the business hang out.
And the man behind it is a Scot - Glaswegian George Hendry.  Two years ago he drew up plans to open the ULTIMATE pop night spot and now the Palace´s trendy reputation has even outgrown that of New York´s famous Studio 54.
When I dropped in,  George gave me a guided tour of the club - and EVERYBODY was there.  I spotted Hazel O´Connor,  Captain Sensible,  Steve Harley,  Paul Gambaccini, Pete Shelley,  Madness, The Fun Boy Three and Palace hosts Steve Strange and Rusty Egan of Visage!
George told me why he´d chosen them to help build up the club´s reputation. ´I had watched Steve and Rusty operating as hosts in other small clubs around London.  They impressed me by the way they helped cultivate a really healthy, late-night scene.  I wanted a club wich would be the best in the country,  so I set about getting the building into shape and then approached them to front it for me.`
