Time
I heard a loud "BANG"
As I approached the door
Entering the room
I saw my love on the floor.

"You killed him!" I cried
Charging the man.
Tears streaming down my face
as I ran and ran.

He pointed the gun at me,
Held the trigger and fired.
I stopped and stood there
Knowing that I'm wired.

Then I saw movement
Out of the corner of my eye.
John was alive!
I could almost cry...

He leapt at me
The bullet speeding on,
Then my boyfriend jerked,
It had hit my John.

I felt his blood spill on me,
It was so wet and warm...
He was fading fast.
I couldn't believe he came to harm...

Then the police came in,
I was stunned and crying.
They surrounded the man;
He just stopped trying.

The ambulence came
To take John away.
I couldn't let him go.
So with him I must stay.

The paramedics worked
Trying to save him.
They removed the bullets from
His stomach and his shin.

I couldn't sleep
Not knowing how he was.
Sitting in his room,
I dreaded the fatal buzz.

But it did come,
My heart filling with sorrow,
There was nothing left to live for
I'd never felt so low.

"Why couldn't I go too?"
I asked his leaving spirit.
"Why did you jump to save me?
Was it for the merit?"

I've lived my life
Wondering that.
I wanted to die.
This sweet girl named Kat.

The man was executed
For his heinous crimes.
Now all that can heal me
Is that uncertain thing called time.
