Citrix Releases Handheld PC Professional Edition
Citrix Systems, Inc. has announced the availability of its new ICA Client
for Windows CE operating system, Handheld PC Professional Edition, formerly
known as "Jupiter" and the third-generation software from Microsoft Corp.
for the handheld PC.
Citrix has released the new ICA(R) client to several OEMs, including Compaq
Computer Corporation, Sharp Electronics Corporation and Vadem, for
inclusion into their handheld PC product lines that incorporate the new
Windows CE operating system. Citrix's ICA Client for Microsoft Windows CE,
Handheld PC Professional Edition will enable mobile professionals to gain
high-performance access to full-function, Windows-based applications
executing on Citrix WinFrame(R) or MetaFrame(tm) servers over wireless,
dial-up or LAN connections.
With its newly available ICA Client for Windows CE, Handheld PC
Professional Edition, Citrix continues to equip hardware manufacturers
with a growing range of platform choices in developing Windows-based
terminals, handheld PCs, wireless and information appliances with
server-based computing capability. Citrix's new ICA client delivers
support for MIPs, SH3, Intel X86-compatible, PowerPC and Strong ARM
platforms powered by Windows CE.
The ICA Client for Windows CE complements the already extensive
cross-platform availability of ICA for other operating systems, including
UNIX, Macintosh, Java and DOS/Windows, as well as other embedded operating
systems, including RISC OS, PSOS, NCI OS, Net OS and QNX OS. Citrix plans
to deliver support for English, French, German, Spanish and Japanese
languages for its new ICA Client for Windows CE.
