My Repertoire of Stories
I offer a wide range of stories for listeners of all ages, preschool through adult.  Below is a sampling of topics available.  When you contact me, we will discuss your specific needs and which topic, or combination of topics, is best for you.
North Carolina Folk Tales and History Stories

This is my most requested set of stories.  It is well-suited for history classes and listeners who are fourth grade through adult.  I tell stories from the three major geographic regions of our state, from colonial times to the present.
NC Folk Tales and History Stories often includes stories from other categories, such as Pirates and Seashore, First Nation Legends, Ghost Stories, and Personal Stories.
Pirates and Seashore Stories

I grew up with the beach as my second home.  My grandparents built a cottage at Holden Beach when I was two, and I still go there whenever possible.  I also live along the estuary waters of Beaufort County.
I love the stories and legends associated with the coast, and in this set, listeners will hear about NC pirates, including Blackbeard, ships and shipwrecks, lighthouses, hurricanes and more.  I recommend this series of stories for audiences studying North Carolina history.  It is suitable for fourth graders and higher.
First Nation Legends

I am not Native American and I make that clear from the start.  I do, however, have a deep appreciation and respect for the First People of this land.  To honour their history and to celebrate their rich culture, I offer a presentation of legends, songs, and information from a cross-section of North American tribes.  This performance is suitable for all audiences.
Personal Stories

I have developed, and continue to explore, stories based upon events and experiences from my childhood.  Most of these are very funny, such as,
I Want an Egg and Now, Grandma? Now?, which most listeners know as my "whipped cream story".  Listeners of all ages enjoy my Personal Stories.
That's me on the right, age 3,
with my little sister.
Ghost Stories

North Carolina has a rich history of scary stories, such as,
Wicked John and the Devil, and, The Light at Maco Station, to name a couple.  I offer a broad range of ghost stories, from the simple "boo!" type for younger listeners to the "raise the hair on the back of your neck" type for older ears.
I also offer a performance on the works and life of Edgar Allan Poe.
Nevermore is a 90-minute show designed for high school students and adults.
