Aussie John has decided that it is time for his long rest. At around 8:30 pm on Tuesday 31 May 2005 (Oz time) John took his final breath. His family were with him all day and are content that John was in no pain and it was the right time for him to go. We thank AJ's many friends for their emails, prayers, and well wishes and know that he would want to make you all laugh, as a tribute to his quick wit and in celebration of his life.

A family member sent this poem to me last night. I think it is just right.......

Weep not for me though I am gone
Into that gentle night
Grieve if you will, but not for long
Upon my soul's sweet flight.
I am at peace, my soul's at rest
There is no need for tears.
For with your love I was so blessed
For all those many years.
There is no pain, I suffer not,
The fear now all is gone.
Put now these things out of your thoughts,
In your memory I live on.
Remember not my fight for breath
Remember not the strife
Please do not dwell upon my death,
But celebrate my life.

Thank you all,

Paulette, on behalf of all the family of John Neil Wilkinson 25/3/1933 - 31/5/2005

Aussie John, having spent some time at home with his family, has recently taken a major stroke and is again back in hospital. John is now in no pain and has his family with him as he begins the journey into his next "Marvellous Adventure". AJ knows how his friends have been praying, swooping, sending jokes, poems, well wishes and positive thoughts, and we (his family) are all very grateful to everyone. John has never lost his sense of humour and his legacy to all of us is Laughter - and we are all the richer for it.

Kindest regards
Aussie John's family

Dear Friends,

I don't want to intrude on John's family's grief, but I hope everyone who visits here will help pray him home peacefully and will light a candle for him and post messages for him and for his family in his guestbook (link is at the bottom of this page). I will continue to maintain this website as a memorial to our dear friend and I will be happy to post any remembrances, poems, etc., that anyone wants to contribute. You may email them to me at the Aussie John address at left or my email address if you don't want to post them publicly.

I have removed all the previous updates as only those above from Paulie matter now. I will place the older ones on another page and link it here shortly.

Hugs to all,

Karen (Zinnia)

Hello from Aussie John in Brisbane, Australia!

"Web Site"

I now have a claim to fame —
I've a web site to my name
and it's full of this and that —
it even has the family cat.
I don't do much, I only lurk,
while Zinnia does all the work.
There's family photos by the score
and I am still researching more.

And I hope eventually,
a lot of archeology.
But the largest and the first
is the section on Terse Verse.
So come along and share with me
a portion of my history
and I promise if you do,
I'll write some verse that's just for you.

24 January 2005

John established this site to share about himself, his life, his interests and hobbies, his country, his poetry, his large and loving family and uncounted friends, and then included a lot more things that occurred to him as he went along.

Don't miss Poems for Chat Friends and Poems for Visitors! The "Thank You" poem below was meant for visitors and he did compose poems and send them to many, in addition to all the poems he composed every month and poems for his family and friends.

"Thank You"

As I augment my previous verse
to show my perspicacity,
I will create another spate
to prove my own veracity.

And so I make this offer
that's absolutely free:
I'll write you a personal poem
to suit your personality.

If you sign our guest book
and leave your name there too,
include an e-mail addy
and then we'll get back to you.

In “Win Friends and Influence People,”
Dale Carnegie made the claim.
"The most important two words
would be a person’s name.
It doesn't matter what you say
or whether it's all right;
what is most important
is that you spell it right."

So in appreciation of your comments,
this is what I'll do:
compose a most appropriate verse
and send it on to you.
