Monitoring of Trainings

As input to management of TVET and to help stakeholders make informed decisions, TESDA monitors trainings conducted by all TVET providers in the Province. Students/trainees of technical-vocational institutions enrolled in UTPRAS-registered courses, local government units with partnerships with TESDA and TESDA Technology Institutions (TTIs) are required to fill-out the National Manpower Information System (NMIS) form upon enrollment.

The following are the trainings included in our monitoring activities.

School-Based Training Programs

Formal TVET

These are structured technical-vocational education and training (TVET) programs conducted by technical-vocational institutions (TVIs) and are registered under the Unified TVET Program Registration and Accreditation System (UTPRAS) of TESDA. At least part of the training of the training in formal TVET is held inside the classroom. Nominal duration of formal TVET ranges from one year to three years.

Short-Term TVET

These are structured school-based trainings with nominal duration of six months or less.

Extension/Community Outreach Training Programs

These are trainings (usually short-term) conducted by schools as part of their community services and social responsibility program. Extension programs can be based on results of research or technology development initiatives.

Non-School Based Training Programs

Non-Formal Community-Based Training Programs

These are non-structured trainings conducted within the community by local government units, non-government units, other national government agencies and similar entities. Community-based trainings usually aim to help constituents acquire skills for short-term employment opportunities, improve the capability of middle-level workers, and develop livelihood or local enterprises. Community-based trainings are usually offered to the public for free.

Enterprise-Based Trainings

Enterprise-based trainings are those conducted by firms or companies for employees, prospective workers or for trainees. Apprenticeship/Kasanayan sa Hanapbuhay (KasH) is an example of enterprise-based training.
