ROYER DRIVER FOR FLYBACKS
BACK TO DRIVERS PAGE
Royer circuit is very simple and reliable. It works very well as a driver for flybacks.
RESULTS: 5 CM ARCS FOR HALF WAVE RECTIFYED INPUT AND UP TO 3 INCHES FOR FULL WAVE RECTIFYED INPUT
60-70 VDC half wave  input, 4+4 turns primary, 6 uF primary cap, 5 cm hot arcs.

With 70 VDC full wave input I melted all the insulation on the primary turns in 10 seconds, but the results were scary and beautiful. And who cares, a new primary can be rewound in a minute. The driver stay cool, only the flyback and connection cables are roasted
With 20-30 VDC input the driver works fine with a resonable warming of the primary turns. A 8+8 turns or 10+10 turns primary would provide a better load.
