TWINFLYBACK - A NEW REBIRTH
BACK TO DRIVERS PAGE
Up to 4 inches arcs until now.
The twinflyback is an unusual approach to utilise better the power capabilities of the flybacks. Sharing the magnetic field between the two cores, through a single primary, allows much higher output voltages at high powers, without saturating the cores or overstressing the secondaries. The driver used is the well known single transistor driver described on many web pages. For higher primary currents and lower heat dissipation I used two power transistors in parallel with good results. The flybacks are imersed in mineral oil which allows a better protection against the insulation breakdowns. The system works well with a 36 VDC @ 10 A source giving me some hopes to add some more performance for higher voltages input
