| As you see in the schema the Marx generator is composed by 5 record discs wrapped with aluminium foil plates on both faces, with safety margins ~ 2 cm, separated with party cups ( 3 cups per stage). On the last disc (on the top) is fixed a PVC tube which sustains the charging resistor chains (2 x 10 Mohms on each side of a stage). The spark gap, for each stage is made with two thin copper wires aligned in parallel. The montage is fed with my DICS (dual ignition coil system- see the schema and the pics on my first page at: http://www.oocities.org/vasil_ro). The tension is rectified with a HV diode, composed from five HV diodes, each of them rated at 20 kV, connected in serie. The discharge electrodes are connected at the top and the base of the generator. I measure the lenght of the spark with a band meter (see on the pics). |
