| As you see in the picture, the cap unit is made with 3 mm window glass cut at dimensions 50 cm x 50 cm, covered on both faces with aluminium foil, with 3 cm safety margins. I used 4 cap units, connected in parallel, for 16 nF total capacity. I was inspired by Greg Hunter beer bottles cap. I didn't want to mess with salt water, so I was looking for a dry cap instead. They are loosy but works well. They are easily dismantled or removed. Though I must increase the capacity to prevent power arcing in my gap and maibe use a more powerfull quenching. This will allow me to decrease the resistive ballast and get more power in the system. |
