MY FAVORITE MOVIES

Fearless Vampire Killers:

One of my all-favorite movies, despite the fact that most people hate it. Basically a comical tribute to the Hammer films, it has everything from goofy laughs to well researched occult references. It is also one of the few films to feature poor Sharon Tate, before the Manson Family got to her. There are some great character actors as well, such as Ferdy Mane and Jack McGowan. Beautifully shot, and with much attention to detail, this is one of Roman Polanski's unsung triumphs.

The Company of Wolves:

A rare British film based on the writings of Angela Carter, who also helped in writing the script. A bit gorey in parts, this was one of the first films to really go to town with the depiction of werewolf transformations, although it is usually overshadowed by its contemporary, "American Werewolf in London", which sported better effects. The script is based around Carter's re-telling of the old Little Red Riding Hood story, but does have references to some other stories from her collection of updated fairytales "The Bloody Chamber".

I could not find a satisfactory site with info on the movie, but I did find a rather nice tribute site for Ms. Carter here:

I also found a link to a trailer for the film here:

Sleepy Hollow
:

Tim Burton and company take off where Irving left off and made their own Gothic story based on characters from this old American classic, much in the style and spirit of the old Hammer films of yore. I love this movie and was even able to find the official site. Take a look for yourself and see why I love it so.

Bram Stoker's Dracula
:

This should actually be called Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula, for it has very little to do with the original novel, although it is highly enjoyable either way. I love the look and feel of this movie. Beautiful to watch, and very passionate. I get lost in this movie whenever I watch it. I wish that I could find this undying love which stretches across centuries, like the count and Mina find. Very sensual stuff. See it in widescreen though, don't bother with the pan and scan.

I could not find a satisfactory link to this movie, but if I do, I'll put it here a.s.a.p.; in the interim, I found this page of vampire movie links which has some articles about it.
