~Pat Green's First National Release Cracks Top 10
Pat Green's major label debut lands in the Top 10 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart dated Nov. 3. Green's Three Days on Universal/Republic debuts at No. 7 on the chart.

~Whos to Say?

Though his crowds are large and growing, Green has had to handle a situation or two of his own. In the land of accomplished singer-songwriters like Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark and Lyle Lovett, some regard his beer-and-good-times point of view as lightweight.
In June, singer-songwriter Charlie Robison took a shot at Green and his fans in an Austin Chronicle story. “You have to see Pat Green’s crowd -– it’s all ballcaps, all a certain kind of folk,” Robison said. “We’re not going to open up a door so wide that educated people or real music fans start liking Pat Green.”
And on Tuesday (Oct. 16), the day his record came out, the Austin America-Statesman citing the criticism leveled at him by others, said of Green, “He’s the most reviled Texas artist since Vanilla Ice.”
“Who’s to Say,” a track on the new album, seems to embody Green’s response. “Who’s to say and who are you to judge me anyway,” he asks. “This is my road, I take the corner as fast as I can go.”

~Country's Escape Artist
Tuesday, October 16, 2001
He recently set a personal concert gross record, selling $113,000
worth of tickets in College Station, and today Universal/Republic will
release his major label debut "Three Days." What's more, the
self-proclaimed "golf nut" just found out his new booking agents are
taking him to play Pebble Beach next week. "I'm the luckiest (person)
on the face of the Earth," Pat Green says as he pops a cup of water
into the microwave on his tour bus, parked down the street from the
apartment on South Congress he shares with wife Kori and Moose, the
Chihuahua.
> Then, as if on cue, Country Music Television airs the video for
Green's "Carry On" single. "Ain't this sump'n, man," the 29-year-old
country cherub says, gesturing to the onscreen pandemonium, as he
sings one of his many songs about busting out of a mundane existence
with a beer in hand and Texas music on the mind. "40,000 people showed
up to be in the video. We had a blast!" If fans didn't hold up signs
saying they loved Pat Green, you could mistake this audience for one
of Garth Brooks', circa 1991. "Watch this part," Green says with a
laugh. "See where I hold my finger up to get people to sing along? I
stole that from Willie."

Wave on Wave
Pat Green (Universal)
Reviewed by RALPH NOVAK

In the middle of this sober, meditative country disc, Pat Green lightens things up with "Elvis," a witty tune that adopts Presley's current point of view in the hereafter: "Once a year they all come to see me/ I watch them throwing flowers at my toes." Green cowrote "Elvis," as he did 12 of the 13 songs on this thoughtful if downbeat album, but more typical of the singer's less-than-rosy view of the universe is "If I Was the Devil": "If I was the devil, I'd gather up all of your dreams/ And drop them to the bottom of a black lagoon." Musically the CD is an accomplished amalgam of country and blues-rock, demonstrating that Green is more than your average Texas troubadour.
BOTTOM LINE: Tasty Wave

~Early Pat Green Albums to Be Rereleased

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Many artists have put out independent albums after leaving major labels, but Texas country artist Pat Green is going the opposite way.
Republic/Universal Records has bought the distribution rights to five of his independent albums and will rerelease all of them this summer. They will rerelease  "George's Bar," "Carry On," "Here We Go," "Dancehall Dreamer" and "Live at Billy Bob's."
No firm release dates have been set.
The 32-year-old singer-songwriter, who has recorded duets with Willie
Nelson and Dixie Chick Natalie Maines, enjoyed independent success with
