Trips For Kids New River is a non-profit volunteer organization.TFKNR provides mountain bike outings and environmental education for local youth age 10 years and up. We offer youth in Southern West Virginia outdoor adventures and a chance to experience activities that are normally inaccessible for them.
Our goal is to improve community health and combine lessons in personal responsibility, achievement and environmental awareness through development of practical skills and the simple act of having fun. These outings will give youth a chance to be physically active and to develop personal skills by practicing teamwork and cooperation, and to build self-esteem by learning outdoor skills and achieving goals.
Volunteers and local outdoor businesses will establish this program and provide trips for youth. Additionally, we provide opportunities for youth to earn community service/work-based learning volunteer hours on trail building in cooperation with the National Park Service and other community projects.
