1. What was life for
you before wrestling?
Believe it or not I was a milkman
of all things before I became a full time pro wrestler.
2. What was training like?
Training was tough but nothing
like the Japanese boys go through. If I would have to do it all over
again I would have broken in overseas.
3. What was going through your head just a few
minutes before your very
first match?
Please don't throw up in the
ring, please don't throw up in the ring!!! I was so nervous.
4. Who was/is you favorite tag team partner?
I have a few: CW Anderson, Simon
Diamond, Jimmy Cicero and Scotty Riggs
5. How did you get the idea for “The King of
Old School”?
I was trained by Tom Brandi and
King Kaluha, who are very old school in their wrestling styles, and I was such
a big fan of old school pro wrestling that I dreamed of doing something like my
heroes did.
6. What is the back-story on how you got into
ECW?
Nova called me in November of
1998 and told me that Paul Heyman was looking for a few indy guys to come in
that he could build up. Both Reckless Youth and I came in for tryouts and
I was lucky enough to get a job.
7. What was it like on stage at that Limp
Bizkit concert?
I think I would have enjoyed it
more if I knew who they were. It wasn't until the next week that I
realized how big it was for ECW and me.
8. And wrestling Dusty Rhodes?
A dream come true!
9. If you could give one important piece of
advice to any up & comers in the
industry, what would it be?
Learn everything you can. Get
out there, drive the thousands of miles for no money and pay your dues.
You will learn so much about yourself, the world, and our great sport.
10. What was going through your mind when you
won the NWA world heavyweight
title?
One of the greatest thrills of my
life. To hold the title that my heroes held is something I will never
forget.
11. If ECW started up again, depending the
circumstances, would you join
with them?
No. ECW was great, but it
is over now.
12. Who would you say was your toughest
opponent?
Masato Tanaka by far.
13. Could you describe the feeling when you’re
in a ring in Japan?
Its so hard to explain because
you don't feel pain in that ring because the fans are so good. Now of
course after the bell I am hurting bad but they just give you this extra push
that makes their product so good.
14. If there were a movie being made about you,
whom would you want to
portray you?
Jason Lee from Almost Famous.
15. If you had to pick out one of the many
promotions you’ve been in, which
one has been your favorite to work in?
No doubt, Pro-Wrestling ZERO-ONE
16. Steve Corino-(the king of old school) V.S
Chris Benoit-(the greatest
technical wrestler in the world today). How would you see that dream match
play out if it were to happen today?
Depends on who is booking!
haha. I would love the challenge.
17. What was it like training your 2 protégés
Alew Law & Ricky Landell?
They are great kids. Just
so smart and willing to do anything to learn more about our sport. Ricky
actually went on his first tour of Japan in July and Alex will go as soon as he
graduates college in December. It has been nothing but great training
these guys.
18. What does Steve Corino to do relax when
he’s stressed out?
Hangs out with my son. I
have the most fun with him.
19. What is coming up for you?
Some great stuff in the UK and
more tours with Japan.
20. Any final things you want to say? Anything
to plug?
Of course!!! www.stevecorino.com
