Pictures!

This is the villa Terry and Kala stayed at during their first week together in India.  The room is in the section to the right of the photo.

This is the local Communist Party headquarters out in the backwaters outside Alleppe, India.  The State of Kerala, India has had Communist state governments from time to time -- all democratically elected.

This is a photo of Kala with Elizabeth -- the director of the SKB Orphanage.

This is Kala outside our room in Alleppe.

This photo is from Terry and Kala's boat trip out into the backwaters around Alleppe.  The land we are on is a small strip of land between the waterway (to the right) and rice fields (off the picture to the left.)

The photo to the right is local farmers taking their rice to market.  As with most of the local boat traffic, the boat is a "pole propelled" gondola -- never did figure out how they didn't tip with such a heavy load!

This photo is of Terry and Kala with Paulo, the caretaker of the villa pictured above.  Paulo is a very devout Catholic -- to the point that he has a massive shrine that takes up the majority of his very small living quarters.  Paulo was extremely helpful and a great asset to have as we bonded during our first week together.

This beautiful tower was in the courtyard of the villa.  Behind the tower are mango trees ripe with tasty mangoes (what else right?)

The photos to the right and left are of Kala playing in our room in the villa.  It's tough to see, but Kala has her boarding pass in her hand in the photo to the left -- she sure seems happy about travelling!

Finally, this photo is from outside Toby's parents' home in Indiana where there was a combination welcome home party for Kala and a birthday party for Toby (note: the "webmaster" has smartly decided not to post what number birthday party this was for Toby!)  :)
