"Thai Garden Restaurant Shows Foreign Cuisines Can Be For The Masses."

Rated 3.5 out of 4 for Food
Rated 3 out of 4 for Service

Certain cuisines strike fear in the hearts and the bowels of many diners. Thai is one of these. The dreaded Thai pepper has given this Southeast Asia style of cooking a reputation that's quite undeserved. Thai Garden on Wellman Avenue in Huntsville's historic Five Points area has proven that this is a cuisine for everyone. I found no reluctance among five guest reviewers who joined The Times for a lunch visit to the restaurant on Tuesday.

This was my first visit to this location of Thai Garden, which originated under ownership of Marjorie Hongdusit at the intersection of Moores Mill and Winchester roads in 1991 and moved here in 1994. Long-time followers say the quality has been consistent through the years. My guests and I can attest to the fact that the restaurant is outstanding, and the crowds here lend credence to our opinions.

One of the fears diners have of Thai food is the spicy hot flavor, but this restaurant uses a star system on each entree to indicate how hot it is. I don't think any of my guests, nor I, will ever be timid in the future about Thai food. Although stir-fried like Chinese, it was very different with more distinct flavors. Thai Garden won us over.
