Sheltered
I don't want to sound disrespectful
But I'd like to live my own life now.
Eternally under your wing is not viable.
After all this time I've grown responsable.
Surviving the perils of the world, I'm quite able.
But your doubt in me is clearly visable.
(or is it doubt in yourself?)
I'll never know the world well enough
As long as you keep me sheltered.
I know letting go is tough
But you can't always keep me sheltered.
I'm going to leave home one day,
But that doesn't mean I love you any less.
but holding me closer is just pushing me away.
I'd like to avoid that mess.
I don't want to seem uncaring
but sometimes you can be a bit overbearing.
A childhood myth that you were never erring
As I grow, starts disappearing.
Standing up to you, I'm darring
I see the world is huge as I stand staring.
I'll never know the world well enough
As long as you keep me sheltered.
I know letting go is tough
But you can't always keep me sheltered.
I'm going to leave home one day,
But that doesn't mean I love you any less.
but holding me closer is just pushing me away.
I'd like to avoid that mess.
I'll never know the world well enough
As long as you keep me sheltered.
I know letting go is tough
But you can't always keep me sheltered.
