| John W.Teller Mennominee Nation My Menominee name is Okimasea(Little Chief) and I grew up on the Menominee reservation in Northern Wisconsin all my life. I am presently serving overseas in the United States Marine corps. I attended Haskell University from 1996 to 1998 where I have made many friends from all over North America. My special thanks goes out to my folks back home for all their support, all the Tribal members, the Mystic River singers, Little Otter singers, and my other brothers and sisters out there in powwow country for their prayers and good wishes! I'll be seeing you all on the powwow trail again soon! Last of all I would like to say WIWAENEN to all the veterans who have given their lives for our protection. | Shannon Ross Eastern Band Cherokee I am a member of the Eastern Band Cherokee from Cherokee North Carolina; I am currently a junior at Haskell Indian Nations University. I am majoring in American Indian studies, and hope to have my BA in one year, then I plan to go on to Kansas University to get my Masters in Indigenous studies. I have been singing with Tha Tribe since 1997 when the drum was first started and hope to be singing with these guys till we are all "OLD AND GRAY"!!!!!!!! HOKA. |
