Where is Vang Vieng ?

Vangvieng is just 2 hour drive from Vientiane; the capital city of Laos and 5 hours down from Lungprabang; the World heritage town.

How to get to Vangvieng?

Local buses from Vientiane leave from the bus station near the morning market at (7Am; 9:30Am; 1Pm), price at 10,000 kips.
Alternatively, VIP buses with A/C price at 40,000 kips, which leave from Mekong river bank infront of Lao Youth Travel at 10Am and 2Pm.

Vang Vieng in brief !

In 1994 the Song River flowed sedately through Vang Vieng, a small village-town just off Route 13 in Vientiane Province, Lao PDR. Local women washed their hair in the river's shallow waters, men pushed their bicycles across the smooth pebbles lining its bed, and children pointed and cried when they saw some of the first Western backpackers arrive to visit.

ACTIVITIES around Vang Vieng:

Natural Beauty Discovery: Visiting Tham Chang, Tham Poukham caves which have stome Buddahs from the 11th century. Out side of the caves, enjoy yourself swimming and jumping of the trees into the big green pool.

Trips and Tours: You can depart by motor boats up stream for the stunning view (DO NOT FORGET YOUR CAMERA). Visit Tham None, Tham Phapourk and surrounding caves inspection. Enjoy a short stop at Numsong River for picnic.

Mountain biking: Perhaps the most energetic way to explore VangVieng is by mountain biking. And, with a wide variety of well blazed tracks much of the area takes two days to visit. Motor-bike is an alternative fun.

Tubing: Another fun activity that you can experience will probably be tubing along Numsong River...just! jump in the circle and enjoy the ride~ ... Canoeing and Kayaking is another option.

Live Museum Visiting: Spare your time for live museum of Lao Lum and Mong villages (Pha Tow) in Vangvieng. This is a good opportunity to explore Lao traditional culture and lifestyle.
