The Pittsburgh Penguins!!

Here's the low-down on the hottest team on the coolest game on ice.

Fire on ice!!!

Ok, It is now a new season and new stuff has been happening, so let's get down to buinsess, shall we?

This Game:

Good Year, bud. Too bad you couldna played all of it.

Cool stuff happenin' in the news:

We finally have a coach: Kevin Constantine (tell me if that's spelled wrong). He looks like a pretty cool guy, and one that could whip this team into shape (something we really need).

Kevin Constantine also picked his supporting cast: Don Jackson, Mike Eaves, Troy Ward, and Rick Kehoe. I guess we'll all just have to wait and see if they are productive or not.

Also, in something that happens every year in the offseason, the draft, the Penguins picked European Richard Dome. He's a left-handed right-winger/center (I think). For those of you who are wondering about our non-existant defense, Patrick also selected six defensemen out of the nine picks that the Pens had. Hopefully, that would give us some kind of boost.

I guess the only kind of hockey games that I will be watching will be from my TV set at home. The Civic Arena has been having some reconstructive surgery and in order to pay for the new, more comfortable seats (they have cup holders), the ticket prices have been upped to $100 (more or less, I know that I don't make that kind of money for anywhere around that figure) a pop.

Ok, here are some of the Players that CP has signed for this 1997-98 season:

Czech Defenseman Jiri Sleger from the Edmontom Oilers

Czech Center Martin Straka from the Florida Panthers

Ian Moran for two more years

Defenseman Brad Werenka from the IHL Indianapolis Ice

Hardworker (and one of my personal favorites) Joe Dziedzic has been signed to a one year contract for $350,000.

Defensemen Chris Tamer and Niel Wilkinson are in training camp with little to no complaints... Let's just hope it stays that way... I like those guys.

Let's see who happens to be unsigned at this moment:

Petr Nedved is still looking for more money, but what he should be looking at is what last year's hold out did to him. Come on, Mr. Nedved, You are my favorite out of all of my favorites, but you are just bieng silly. $2 million is still a lot of money.

Mr. Rookie Team Patrick LaLime isn't signed either. What is this? Let's see how long our cool players can hold out? Maybe that's the game of hardball that CP is playin'

Also, Jason Woolley isn't signed... Guess what? He's one of my favorite players...Is that a news flash? I don't think so.

Can't wait until next year...
