replaced with MSgt Poppino (how could anyone forget Pop) While on flight got
SPCDS qualified and went to the CSC Section. I was A Security Controller for
two years and my last two years there I work in the Quality Control section.
Sperated from the USAF in 1992 and have remained in the UK since. Would love to
hear from any one that I served with at "Hooterville".

Although it was a long time ago (1961-1965), I treasure my Lakenheath
experience! Please let me know about your organization, and how I can join.
During my service there, I fell in love with the English people, and I've
returned a few times, making more friends. Although I've gone on to a 35-year
career as a police officer, I've always had a special place in my heart for the
48th Air Police Squadron!

Couldn't believe this site when I saw it...The old 48th SPS. I was a standboard
evaluator....I know, I know........If I failed any of you I'm sorry....I have
to admit that I really miss the old place and the friends I made there. It was
sometimes hard b t the memories were worth it. After leaving the 48th I went to
Ellsworth AFB, SD and I didn't enjoy that one bit so I got out and am now a
Houston Police Officer with 10 years service......And like someone had written
before in this guest log, there are imes I pass the airport and smell the jet
fuel and hear the engine noises and I am taken back to the times I spent on the
flight line during alerts, cold, wet and hungry dressed in a camoflag suit and
wearing a gas mask...............The things we do when we are young.....

Great to see a site dedicated to the 48th SPS veterans. I have fond memories of
RAF Hooterville. Ahh, who the hell am I kidding, we got put through the F-ing
wringer. If we weren't on alert we were getting ready for an alert and those
bastards at Mildenh ll were just skating. The best memories are Hardcore Spades
in the MFT hut in the TQRA, getting pissed drunk in the Cop Barracks 937 on
warm Budwiessers from the AAfees gas station and kicking the SHIT out of the
DNA inspection team when they tried to tak the Whiskey (WSA). Hopefully some
old DELTA DAWGS will see this page and contact me. Remember "In peace is

It’s an honor to be the first person to sign your guest book! After basic and
technical training at Lackland AFB, I spent my entire Air Force career with the
48th SPS at RAF Lakenheath. I arrived as an Airman in December 1971 and I left
as a Staff Sergeant in August, 1975. When I first arrived at the Heath, we had
F-100 fighters. Later, these were replaced with F-4s. Aside from the hard work,
I enjoyed some of the best times of my like at Lakenheath. Sometimes, I wonder
what happened to my old friend – Philip Towner, Buddy Coy, Bob Evans, Jimmy
Hobson, Danny Wait … If any of you run across this web site, please contact me
by email.
