Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Spoilers | ||||||||||||||||
Here it is, sorry for the delay, so it will be kept brief. Although I'm sure everyone has read it by now. The Triwiazrd Tournament (formerly the "Doomspell Tournament": A centuries disbanded tournament that was played amoung Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang, the three largest schools of magic in Europe. It involves three students over the age of 17, one from each of the respective schools. There are three tasks which must be completed throughout the year, one on November 24, the next one February 24, and the last on June 24. The Beauxbatons champion is Fleur Delacour, a part-veela girl from France(where Beauxbatons is located). The Durmstrang champion is Viktor Krum, "hero" of the Quidditch World Cup. The Hogwarts champion is Cedric Diggory. Harry's name also comes out of the Goblet of Fire (the magical object which chooses the competing students) and he must compete also. Harry wins the tournament. DUH! Deaths: - Frank Pryce, a muggle gardener who is killed by Voledmort in the first chapter. -Bertha Jorkins, a not too bright Ministry employee whose death is mentioned but had already happened prior to the start of the novel. However she is important to the plot as she revealed good information to Lord Voldemort before he murdered her. -The Riddle Family, Voldemort's father and paternal grandparents. This had also already happened- fifty years ago. Rowling makes a point to tell the reader that although their deaths sparked a curiosity through the town, the Riddles were not sorely missed -Cedric Diggory, the death we are to take to heart. Cedric was in the Triwizard Tournament with Harry, and offered him to take the glory of the tournament in his place. His death was an accident, he was not supposed to stumble upon Voldemort with Harry. Fall in LUV with "All the wrong people": On Christmas Night there is a Yule Ball open to the forth year and up (younger students may go, but only with an older date). Harry, as a Triwizard Champion, is required to have a partner, but it is an option with the other students, an option that most everyone takes... Hermione Granger- Viktor Krum, the eighteen(!)-year old Drumstrang student who played seeker for Bulgaria in the Quidditch World Cup. Neville had asked her to the Yule Ball, but she turned him down, because she was going with Krum. Whenever Harry and Ron discussed their dates in any sense she became rather snippy. HMMMMMMM! Hermione kissed Harry goodbye when he left for the Dursleys at the end of the year. Harry Potter- Cho Chang, although mentioned in Azkaban, Harry's crush on her is admitted point-blank. Unfortunatly he cannot take her to the Yule Ball beause she had already committed to Cedric Diggory. Ron asks Ginny for him, but she's already going with Nevile. He then asks Parvati Patil instead, who consents, and asks her sister Padma for Ron. Parvati and Padma eventually leave Harry and Ron, as they are not good partners. Neither boy minded. Ronald Weasley- Fleur Delacour, a Beauxbatons student who is part veela, and doesn't give him the time of day. Veela are extremely beautiful and have seductive powers. Ron goes to the Yule ball with Padma Patil, Parvati's twin out of desparation. He seems very irked about Hermione and Krum. Hermione Granger- Is asked by Viktor Krum (the Bulgarian Teacher and Durmstrang student) who haunts the library to try to ask her out, except Hermione leaves everytime Krum's fans chase him. She and Ron have an odd relationship in this book, and at the end of the novel, Hermione KISSES HARRY GOODBYE!?!?!?! Neville Longbottom- Asks Hermione Granger to the Yule Ball because she always helps him with things like schoolwork, etc. When she refuses (she already has a date), he asks Ginny Weasley. Draco Malfoy- takes Pansy Parkinson to the Yule Ball Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle- neither had a date for the Yule Ball. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! World Cup: Ireland wins the World Cup, but Bulgaria's Viktor Krum got the snitch. Score: 170-160 Fred and George Weasley successfully bet on this. Other: The explosions from Fred and George's bedroom were because they were inventing practical jokeitems to sell at school. Mrs. Weasley unsuccessfully tries to get them to stop their activities. Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody (DADA teacher) was impersonated by Barty Crouch's son who bears the same name via Polyjuice Potion. The switch was made during the disruption at Moody's house on September first. Rita Skeeter is an illegal animagus who can turn into a beetle, which is how she picks up forbidden stories from students for the Daily Profit. NO WINNER IS MENTIONED FOR THE HOUSE CUP THOUGH POINTS ARE GIVEN AND TAKE AWAY. |
