Message from the President

It has been a while since I have updated this part of the web page and thought I would take a minute to give you some updated information.

We have continued to have meetings at the El Chico's in an effort to keep everyone informed on the progress on various fronts. Unfortunately, the numbers in attendance seem to be dwindling. Please take the time to attend these meetings and offer your support to the various efforts being made to secure a field for the Association. If you cannot attend the minutes are now being provided via this web site.

Jack McGeough has formed a committee to actively pursue a new flying site and could use your eyes & ears. If anyone has driven by a piece of suitable property or heard about a new park please contact Jack and give him the information to work on.

The group headed by Frank Taylor continues to work with the Lewisville people in an effort to secure permission to fly at the Waste Management site. At this stage there is a need to approach the Lewisville City Council and receive waivers on several components of the field. The prospects actually look very good that there could be a flying site available in 2002. All I can say is to Be Patient! Frank is working on this project with Bill Little and I and we all have only so many hours in the day to devote to this project.

As I will likely not be addressing this web site again I would like to take this opportunity to again urge each of you to get involved with the people trying to make an IRCFA field a reality and offer your assistance. Both Frank and Jack have jobs to attend to and are limited in terms of the time they can devote to a site search. Call them and ask what you can do. They cannot do it all by themselves.

I wish all of you the best in 2002 and hope to see you at a meeting. I very much appreciate the confidence you have shown in me, electing me in this short year. And I want to thank my fellow officers for their support as well as Roy Appleton, our Web Master. It has been a challenge. Keep flying those planes and looking for property,
