The Bothy is a traditional stone built house, situated in the beautiful Clach na Brain, in the prime walking and cycling countryside of Glen Clova.

The exact meaning of Clach na Brain is not certain, but one suggestion is the translation 'Stone of the potbelly', presumably referring to the hillocks in the fields in front of the house.

Glen Clova is one of the great areas for walking in Scotland. For the Munro baggers there are nine, which you can climb from the Glen Doll car park. Glen Shee and Mt. Keen are within an hour's drive. In addition, there are many walks to suit all abilities. The Glen is an ideal place to cycle on quiet roads beautiful surroundings. Glen Prosen is also worth exploring, but the braes are steeper and much more frequent.

If you enjoy fishing, permits are obtainable from the Airlie Estates office at Cortachy. You can see many different birds in the Glen. The RSPB and SWT reserves at Kinnordy Loch and Montrose Basin provide different habitats in which to view them. Wet day activities could include visits to Glamis castle, Barrie's birthplace or the Gateway museum in Kirriemuir.

Whatever your interests are I am sure that you will find plenty to do in this beautiful and undiscovered part of Scotland.
