During the January meeting the logistics of moving the Buffers layout to the Great British Train Show were discussed. Grant Miles who is curretnly living out of town cant provide the transportaion services he has in the past. Roy and Andrew Hopkins indicated they could  likely be able to assist with the use of Hopkins Aluminum Company truck and trailer.

Geoff Chandler reported that his daughter will be preparing identification for the module. The work would be based on the that produced for the showing at the St George's Society. It is hoped that samples will be available at the February meeting.

We have been contacted by
Philip Insull of the Platelayers with regards to the club appearing alongside the Platelayers at the GBTS in April. The purpose of this would be to recruit new members, discuss activities of the group hand out membership forms and do a bit of modelling. The Platlelayers will have an operational OO module in the area.
This item will be discussed at the February meeting.

On display at the meeting we had
Joe Belecky with the new Bachmann Standard 4MT tank engine. Grant Miles also brought along Hornby's Bullied 4-6-2 Canadain Pacific. Yanis Smit displayed the progress he has made on the frames of his live steam 3 1/2" gauge ex-GWR County of Monmouth.

Geoff Chandler referred to a problem he had with the running quality of a Hornby Ringfield motor. The symptoms of poor pulling power and a side to side movement of the tender. On examination, it was revealed that both traction tires were worn. Spares were optained quite readilly from Modelspares in Burnley, Lancashire (see add in Railway Modeller) and arrived in less than a week, restoring full performance to the motor.

Thanks to
Roy Hopkins for providing an interesting and varied slide show with subject matter ranging from the 1960's to the present.

Bill Wolfe brought Laszlo Molner to the meeting as a guest. Laszlo has indicated that he wishes to join the group.

On the day of the meeting
David Thoms left on a business trip to England. David hopes to have a report on his railway observations for the february meeting.

Thanks to
Ed Spencer who provided a pad and gavel to the Buffers for use by the Secretary  in calling  meetings to order.

At the February Meeting, the video "Living with Lizzie" will be presented. Although somewhat dated, the video includes the development and building of the LMS Princess Royal class. According to the Railway Magazine, negotiations are underway to have this locomotive pull the Royal Train during some of the Queen's visits around Britain in this her Golden Jubilee year.

Membership dues for the 2002 year are now past due in the amount of $20.00.

A special thank you to
David and Pat Foster of the British Connection for a generous donation of postage stamps. This will considerably reduce our mailing costs for this year.

Our February  meeting will be held at the usual 83 Elliot Street location on the 16th of the month.   Starting at 13:00 and running to around 16:30. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served as usual.
