PRESCHOOL

The Center offers a state-approved, two-classroom preschool for 3- to 5-year-old children who are physically handicapped, and/or medically fragile, and a one-classroom Multiply Disabled Class for 5-to-8 year olds. This state approved preschool is designed to offer children who are physically handicapped and/or medically fragile an intimate preschool class where they can have an optimal learning experience in a small nurturing environment. The maximum class size is eight, with a certified special education teacher and at least one aide in each class. The daily class session is 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Individual Occupational, Physical, Speech/Language and feeding therapies are included. Classrooms are bright and cheerful, and equipped with special computers with software, touch screens and adaptive switches. Special seating and standing apparatus are provided as needed. Lunch is supervised by teachers, aides and a speech/feeding therapist. Music therapy is part of the curriculum. There is a state approved extended-year program available during he month of July.
