Frodo finally appeared near the staircase where Strider grabbed him and hauled him up the stairs; he nodded at Lothaelin leaving her alone in the confusion of Men and the other hobbits. She quickly slipped through the crowd unnoticed as they chattered about what had just happened.
The cool night air struck her face cooling her off; it was still raining but not as heavily as it had been when she first arrived.
It trickled down her dark green-almost black hood; she pulled back her hood to let the rain fall onto her face and wavy light brown hair. She could smell the cool rain, like a mixture of fresh pine trees, wet wood, even the horses. She briskly walked into the other slightly larger hut across from the pub; to the hobbits that were crossing into the pub it appeared that she was taking a leisurely stroll.
She wondered why Gandalf was not there, Barliman had told her that he had not seen Gandalf for six months! She knew that Wizards kept their word... She hoped that he would be all right and that he would meet them elsewhere. Although Gandalf had told her to keep an eye on Frodo in Bag End, and until they reached Bree, she could not help but feel that it was still her duty to ensure that the hobbits and Strider were safe in his absence.
If her mother hadn't of been a hobbit, she would of had to duck down as she made her way across the entrance hall; she ran down the small hallway turning to her left until she reached a few stone stairs that led to the third floor where Frodo's room was. Lothaelin hurried up the stairs before slipping silently into Frodo's room where she shut the door behind her and quickly blew out all the candles near the door.
She walked across the room careful to avoid the window; she then blew out all the candles there. She allowed herself to peek out the window to look across into Strider's room. Strider had just blown out the candles; she could still make out his tall figure in the shadows as well as just the top of Frodo's head. She stood watching Strider move across the room just as the door crashed open to reveal three other hobbits, one of which had a candle in his hand and the other a table. Samwise Gamgee stood in front of the other two with his hands balled up into fists in front of his face.
Strider pulled them all in before closing the door again, she assumed that he would have to end up telling the other hobbits everything seeing as Samwise would not leave his master anywhere. Lothaelin couldn't help but wonder if Samwise would turn and run if they had to go further than Rivendell.
There were too many horrible things past Rivendell that an innocent hobbit should not see, even if they were just crossing to go past Lórien. (Which most hobbits did not do unless it was Bilbo Baggins). Speaking of Bilbo, Lothaelin suddenly felt a pain in her stomach; she missed him dearly as he was like her second father since hers had died in the battle against Sauron to save Middle-Earth.
She remembered the story that Galadriel told her when she had asked why her father, and other Elves and Men were fighting. She had a sympathetic look on her face as she explained the story of Sauron turning the lot of Men and Elves onto his side, the Ring of Power and the events before where her mother had been taken by Orcs to the Dark Lord himself.
Galadriel could not tell her why Sauron had wanted her mother, but she had been able to tell her that her father had been so angry that he risked his life by fighting Sauron one on one to try to steal her back. Galadriel told her that her father had been severely hurt and brought back by one of the Mirkwood Elves that had found him lying by the falls of Rauros...
Lothaelin cleared her mind as she tried to figure out what Strider was up to. Strider did not look back out the window so she had to try to think like him. She guessed that he would be explaining things to the hobbits and would let them stay in his room while he stayed up and watched for the Nazgűl. Lothaelin could not stay with Strider for she would reveal herself to the hobbits, having nowhere else to stay she remained in the hobbits room.
Knowing very well that the Nazgűl were now on their way to Bree, she knew that they would try to kill the hobbits. She ripped off the sheets from the four beds and grabbed the extra pillows from the closet before she stuck one on each of the beds. She neatly pulled the covers back over the bed and fluffed the pillows so that it looked as if there were hobbits sleeping under the covers. With every passing minute she could feel the Nazgul drawing nearer, she tried her best to keep her mind from clouding over with the fear that she felt begin to swell up in her chest.
Lothaelin remained in the hobbits room, sitting on the window seat hiding herself behind the wooden decoration. Though she was tired, she knew that she could not fall asleep. She had to keep her word, as well as keep herself hidden from the Nazgul, or they would kill her. At around midnight, she had a sinking feeling in her stomach, at once she knew that the Nazgul were in Bree.
She could not see the gate from the position that window was in, but she could hear the gate break down, and the sound of the horses' hooves. She quickly ran out of the room and hid herself behind one of the corners as she watched the Nazgul enter the hobbits' room. She could hear their swords sink into the pillows as they continued to stab at the beds. They lifted up the covers and screamed loudly, Lothaelin covered her ears at the high-pitched screaming before she ducked away into the dark corridor waiting for them to leave.
She carefully waited until they left Bree when she finally was able to emerge and head behind the Prancing Pony to find EveningStar. She mounted her horse and he led her towards the stable, all the horses were gone! Lothaelin knew that Strider would need a horse to carry all their supplies, but she also knew that he would be able to find a horse somewhere and would manage. EveningStar then sped off to reach the hobbits next stop. *
It took until morning when she finally reached Weather top. She dismounted EveningStar and looked around Weather top to make sure that everything was all right before she mounted EveningStar and they looked around Weather top for the Nazgul. Lothaelin had folded her hood into her bag as they rode around, for there was no point on hiding herself as there were barely any trees to hide behind. She looked around Weather top until mid-afternoon where she headed off toward Rivendell to inform Elrond and Arwen of their arrival.
By dawn a dark feeling crept over her. She looked around and kept her guard up as EveningStar galloped along the bare land. They had travelled twenty miles before they reached an enclosure of trees, there, three Wraiths jumped out at her on their dark horses. There was no escaping, they had formed a circle and there was no way she would be able to break out of it. EveningStar looked up, and moved side to side before settling down, he stood as still as a statue. Lothaelin couldn't see the Ringwraiths face however she heard a hissing voice speak to her.
"Sssauron. Join him." He reached out his hand to Lothaelin; the black cloak covered his arms revealing his gloved hands. She stared into the dark hood of the Ringwraith as if hypnotized. Her right hand was outstretched towards the Ringwraiths’; she almost touched his hand when EveningStar neighed ferociously snapping her out of the trance.
Lothaelin's hand shot down as her left one reached over to pull out her sword. She swung her sword at the Ringwraiths' face, a piercing scream came from behind her as EveningStar managed to push past the first wraith, however not quick enough to dodge the other wraiths sword. It slashed her left side; she winced but that was nothing compared to the immense pain that followed afterward...
