The Golden Wood

Lothaelin quickly ran over the bridge as fast as she possibly could until she reached the door. She did not glance back for she knew that the Fellowship was now right behind her. She ran out and kept running until she found an area that had trees, there she hid. After she hid she turned back towards the mountains as she heard someone screaming.

She did not know what had happened, but she did not like the sound of it. She wished that she knew what was going on! Her attention was focused behind her as she heard soft hooves approaching. She looked behind her and found a beautiful white horse walking towards her.

"Argo!" She exclaimed happily. She ran to her horse and wrapped her arms around her neck. She then mounted Argo and they sped off past the three peaks of Celebdil, Fanuidhol, and Caradhras. Near the head of the meadow that lie past the three peaks, a stream flowed underneath the numerous short falls.

She arrived in the Golden Woods shortly after and Argo slowed her pace down allowing Lothaelin to take in the scenery that she had not seen for over seventeen years. She admired the tall trees, and the yellow flowers that covered them. She could make out the talons with her keen eyesight, and found the talon that her and Haldir had met the first time she had entered thousands of years ago.

Leaves were falling from the trees steadily, further down it seemed the lighting was lighter. She continued her way down until Haldir and his brothers came out from their hiding, their bows were pointed at her, prepared to shoot.

"Lothaelin?" Haldir asked. Lothaelin jumped down from Argo and ran towards Haldir embracing him in a hug; he hugged her back as the others withdrew their bows and hid again. Haldir pulled back so that he could see her face and look into her eyes, she looked into his blue eyes and was reminded of Frodo.
“Have you come back to stay?” He asked in a hopeful tone of voice. Lothaelin did not take her eyes away from Haldir’s, instead she shook her head slowly; his smile slowly faded.

"I have no time to stay, Haldir. There is a Fellowship arriving, I must prepare their arrival, Galadriel will be waiting." Haldir nodded, understanding that there were duties she needed to attend to, and let Lothaelin pass. He watched Lothaelin mount Argo and the white horse took off, galloping towards Cerin Amroth. He watched them until they were lost amongst the trees in the Golden Wood, his heart sank once again, afraid that he would not see her again, afraid that this would be his last time.

Lothaelin still did not know why someone had been screaming, or why she felt as though she had lost something or someone close to her again. She remembered how heart broken she had been when she though that Frodo had died, passing into the shadow of the Wraiths; and how happy she had been when she saw him with Bilbo, it was as though Frodo being well had suddenly mended her heart.

It was early in the evening the next day when the reached Cerin Amroth, they had not stopped to rest. The sun was starting to move over to the East, leaves were falling onto the ground sporadically as Lothaelin took out the little pup that remained in her bag.
Almost over night it seemed that he had grown, he could not peak his head out from the top of the bag. She placed him on the ground and let him wander around as if he were looking for something, she immediately thought of Sam's curiosity and thought of calling him Sam.

A bird landed on the ground next to the pup and started chirping, the pup looked up at the sky in bewilderment but did not look at the bird until it flew away. The pup started chasing after the bird, and she was instantly reminded of Pippin.
"Okay, Pippin you shall be dubbed." She laughed as Pippin ran over to her and started jumping up; she leaned over to pick him up and brought him close to her face so that she could get a better look at him. He licked her face and she laughed until she heard footsteps further back. She knew that Haldir would be leading the Company to Caras Galadhon and that they would arrive later in the day.

Lothaelin jumped on Argo and let Pip wander by their side as they continued their way to Lórien. By the evening they had reached the Gates of Lórien, Lothaelin jumped off Argo and let her wander off on her own as Pip remained by her side as they wandered past the Gates. The great trees encircled with talons of stairs welcomed Lothaelin, the grass was covered with flowers and the air was incredibly fresh.

She took a deep breath of the familiar air and began to make her way south towards the chamber where Galadriel and Celeborn would be. Pip trotted beside Lothaelin sniffing around occasionally getting accustomed to the new environment. She reached the tree and looked up at the stairs before she climbed them carefully with Pip running up them energetically. She reached the Chamber and found Celeborn waiting for her.

"Lothaelin, it has been a long time." He greeted her with a warm smile.
"Come, Galadriel is waiting." Celeborn led her up more stairs until they reached another chamber where Galadriel was seated in a chair.
When she saw Lothaelin she arose and walked towards her as Celeborn seated himself in another chair. Galadriel hugged Lothaelin tightly before pulling back to look at her.

"You have grown since I last saw you." Galadriel looked into Lothaelin's eyes and noticed a significant change and air about her.
"You still remain beautiful." Lothaelin commented; Galadriel was thousands of years older than she was but she was still as beautiful as she had been many years ago.
"I feel that there is something different about you." Galadriel held onto Lothaelin's arms continuing to look into her eyes, as if she were looking into her soul searching for something.
"I do not know what should be different."

Galadriel studied Lothaelin's face for a few moments before walking towards the other side of the room where she could look out at the Great City. Lothaelin remained standing in the same spot with Pip sitting at her heels, she watched as Galadriel took something from a table.

"You will know what I speak of when the time comes. I would like you to remain by the stairs when the Fellowship is in the chamber, pay attention to your emotions when you look at each and every one of them." Galadriel walked back over to Lothaelin and stuck her hand out. Lothaelin reached out her own hand to receive what Galadriel was about to give her. It fell into her hand lightly, it was small and in a pointed vile of glass. Lothaelin examined it closely and could not believe what she was holding.

"The Light of Elendil?” She exclaimed.
"Yes, I would like you to give this to Frodo before the Fellowship leaves. But it you feel that you cannot, I will give it to him."
Lothaelin put the glass vile into her bag and nodded to Galadriel. She turned around and was about to descend the stairs when Celeborn spoke to her.

"Lothaelin." Celeborn rose from his seat and walked towards the table; he opened a drawer and pulled out a white material from it. He walked towards Lothaelin and handed it to her.
"You will need this." Lothaelin took the material and thanked him. She then turned back around and walked down the stairs.
