Engineering

The Delta Flyer is equipped with warp and impulse engines, a tractor beam emitter, and a narrow-beam transporter; it uses a tuned, circumferential warp reactor chamber and extendable warp nacelles. When fitted with a transwarp coil, it is more than capable of travelling at transwarp velocities. The ship is also capable of entering a planet's atmosphere and landing on the suface. Power distribution is maximized by the use of iso-magnetic EPS conduits in the plasma manifold; many of its systems incorporate Borg enhancments suggested by Seven-of-nine. The ship's design has proven extremely adaptable. Shortly after the crew constructed the Delta Flyer, they modified its hull and thrusters so that it could operate deep within the Monean ocean-planet. On another occassion, the ship was modified so that it could generate multi-adaptive shielding that rendered it invisible to the Borg's sensors.

New Delta Flyer

The New Delta Flyer features secondary impulse thrusters. They fold out from the port and starboard aft sides. The impulse thrusters, when used with the normal engines, propel the Delta Flyer at nearly double its normal speed. The New Delta Flyer also had an Enriched Dueterium Fuel Converter added into its impulse engine system so that it could enter the Antarian Trans-stellar Rally Race. As it turned out, the fuel converter was rigged to make the warp core explode. Tom Paris flew the Delta Flyer into a J-Class nebula where he ejected the warp core and escaped. Tom Paris and B'Lanna Torres took their honeymoon on The New Delta Flyer while it was still missing its warp core.
