Ravens and Roses
A serenade of love (Chp 5)
Sally-Po closed the door to Raven’s room behind her. She glanced around at the assembled group, their concern showing in their faces.
She sighed, "Trowa has a nasty cut there but he will be okay. He is strong. He may have to lay off the circus for a while though. Raven…I’m not too sure about her. I’ve seen cases like hers before but…" Sally stopped, frowning.
"What Sally?" asked Quatre, patting her on the arm.
She looked at him saying, "She has so much pain, so much fear, so much hate. She went under an incredible amount of stress back there. She wouldn’t have stopped normally I think. She would have killed him if…" Everyone looked around for Heero. He was gone.
Relena sighed. Everyone left, knowing in that silence lay a fate two people shared.
Wufei let down his hair, brushing it with smooth strokes. He sighed, This day had gone well. One insane girl and a hurt Trowa, just what you need on a vacation. Sally-Po looked over at him.
"What is it Wufei?" she said sitting down next to him.
"Just this day. That girl, Raven, she…she reminded me of…Merian. That look in her eyes, that power, the strength, the anger. It was all there," He looked at Sally, expecting some reaction.
She just frowned, "Yes, I thought you would think that. But Wufei, she doesn’t need that power. It’s the one thing that is bogging her down!"
Wufei looked startled, "She is really that insane?"
Sally smiled a little, than punched him in the shoulder, "Wufei….you are such a little nerd sometimes."
Quatre looked out of Raven’s window. He glanced down at the beach and at the lone figure strolling down the beach. He looked over at the prone figure on the bed. He sat down on bed, re-taping the bandage around Raven’s arm were it had come unstuck. He sighed, then left the room.
Duo yawned as Hilde brushed out his long hair. She twisted it into a neat braid and let it fall on his back. He sat there waiting for her to turn off the light and go to sleep. She didn’t move.
"Hilde, what’s the matter?" He turned. Hilde was sitting there, a far away look on her face. "Hilde, Earth to Hilde. Come in Hilde?" He waved a hand in front of her face.
She started, "Ohh. Sorry Duo. I was just spacing out, about that girl. Raven."
"You mean the one, who tried to kill me," said Duo, getting up to turn off the light.
"Yah, the one who tried to kill you. The one who likes Trowa," she replied as he lay down.
"The one who likes…WHAT?" yelled Duo, siting up quickly and hitting his head on the headboard.
"You didn’t notice?" Hilde laughed as the disgruntled pilot rubbed his head.
"No, was I supposed too?" asked Duo, lying back down. "Hilde?" Duo looked over at the figure next to him. She was asleep, breathing lightly.
Duo smiled softly and put his arm around her.
Catherine put down her book. She looked with love at the boy lying on the bed. She reached over and put a hand on his arm. His eyelids flickered.
"Trowa? Are you awake Trowa?" said Catherine, leaning over him.
"Raven…" said Trowa in his sleep, fists clenching.
"Oh Trowa," answered Catherine, as her heart broke like glass.
Heero walked along the beach. The moon was just coming out in the dark sky. The moon looks so beautiful, he thought. He stopped as footsteps sounded behind him. He turned. Relena stood there, holding out a jacket. He took it from her and put it on. She fell in step with him as they walked down the beach. Relena sighed and put her head on his shoulder. She is so tired, so worried about that girl. That girl like me…Heero thought. She stopped for a moment. He looked at her, moonlight glinting off of golden hair. He felt a familiar ache in his heart, a feeling lost and found again.
"She’s like you," said Relena quietly.
"Yes, she is," answered Heero.
"It scares me how much," said Relena, staring at the moon hanging in the sky.
"Why?" asked Heero, a bit taken back.
"You found something. Something you could have faith in, a heart, feeling, and emotion. You found it in a person you loved. She doesn’t have one. She will be like that forever. Trapped in side herself searching for her other half, her heart," said Relena, grasping Heero’s hand like she would never let go. As he turned toward her a tear escaped his eye, running down his cheek, to fall, upon the sand.
Author’s Random Mumblings: *sniff* That was kind of depressing. I can’t believe I’m THAT depressed. I mean I just made Heero cry, for God’s sake. *waves tiredly* I think my brain cells are going. Hope y’all liked it.
