The Pit Dragon Trilogy (suited for all ages) By: Jane Yolen #1 Dragon's Blood #2 Heart's Blood #3 A Sending of Dragons Synopsis: These books contain the story of 15 year-old Jakkin Stewart (no relation, ;)), a young bond servant who works for Sarkkhan's Dragon farms, dreaming of owning a pit dragon to breed as a fighter. He hopes to buy his freedom with the winnings his dragon gets by fighting in the Pits. He devises a plan to steal a baby hatchling and his future unfolds from that point. With believable characters, a realistic world and an awesome take on dragons, this series is a must read.. Rave Review, comments from Psyche: I absolutely love these books! The first one is undeniably the best and could even serve as a stand alone, but I couldn't put dow Dragon's Blood and then found myself after the sequels! And call me crazy, as many of you do, but I think Likkarn was a very interesting character and semi-antagonist. But as LeVar Burton of that old TC show "Reading Rainbow" always says, "But don't take my word for it..." Read it yourself and find out! *hums the "Reading Rainbow" theme and feels really old*
