To-night

Part One: Dreaming

Do not try to talk sweet,
If you do not mean it.
Do not try to swoon me.
If you do not see me right.
Do not tell me things,
You cannot prove.
The world is twisted,
Darker than to-night.

I know you care,
Somewhere in your heart.
I know you can,
Be the one of my dreams.
But in this mind,
And in this time,
It is hard to find-
Find the truth to-night.

I am not accusing,
I am not pointing now.
I think you understand me,
When I say it is hard-
Hard to believe.
My world is spinning,
And you come along.
You try to serenade me,
With a common song.
But the tune is rotten-
Rotten in my ears to-night.

There is a lot more,
A lot more to life.
Than seeking love,
Seeking faiths.
On the mountain,
In the distant.
You can find me,
If you want me,
If you really care to-night.

I sit alone meditating.
You will try to come along.
But really what you serenade,
Is completely the wrong song...
You will call me,
When you think of it.
You will seek me,
When you need help.
I understand that,
But I need you to need me to-night.

Part Two: Awake

And in the final hours,
We cannot face ourselves.
In the castle's towers,
We wish to be alone..
But when I need you,
Will you be there?
When I seek your help,
Will you care?
Will you listen to me to-night?

I'm tired of listening,
Without being heard.
I'm tired of helping,
But find nothing in return.
Yes I care, I deeply do.
But I need to be saved,
Just as much as you.
But you do not hold me,
Not to-night.

Weakly smiling,
I try to see beyond.
I understand you hurt.
But do you see,
I have my own pains?
Yet I am here.
Always will be.
If if you need me,
Call me to-night.

You promise this,
You promise that.
But when it comes down,
Will you have fallen too?
Your hands are tied,
Or so you say.
Still wishing to do things,
Wishing to play.
You have no time though,
No time for me to-night.

Part Three: Seeing

The girl in your arms,
Is she like me?
The girl you love,
With the bruises and scars.
Will she be with you,
Be with you forever.
I have a promise.
One to you my friend.
Forever I am here,
Even to-night.

In time you need me,
I am here,
In time you need help,
You just call.
My hands are open.
I'm never taken.
I have time for you.
I have time to listen to-night.

If she leaves you tomorrow,
If she leaves you now,
I will be here to guide you,
To point you to the paths.
You sit thinking.
Writing words of anger.
I still wonder if you know.
Do you see me as I do you.
Do you think of my to-night.

I have my dreams,
And you have yours.
I wonder if they will have me.
Am I a friend?
Am I a passion?
Am I anything to you?
Anything at all?
Can I be there for you,
Like I am to-night?

Part Four: Visions

It has been a long time,
It has been far too long.
I still see you though,
In my dreams and visions.
I see your face,
I see your pose,
I long for you,
But that is something new.
What would you think of it?
What would you dream to-night?

I am just a little girl,
Someone from your past.
I am just a stubborn child.
Nothing worhty of your love.
As you hold that girl,
I know you never see me.
Your visions are of forever.
Do you even remember me,
I know we had nothing,
But can you remember me to-night?

I hold a place for you,
If only you knew how high...
I hold a place for you,
I shall till I die.
When the darkness come to you.
I hope you will seek me.
I know you will never love me,
But maybe I can help you to-night.

To-night I see,
I feel for you.
To-night I see,
See you in dreams.
I desire to be yours.
But I'll never let you know.
I could never make you happy,
I could never be the one,
But I'll be your friend to-night.
