MR. JOHANNINGMEIER: Allegation 16 concerns a number of football
student-athletes during the summer of 1999 receiving an amount of
financial aid that exceeded the value of the full grant-in-aid.

The enforcement staff and the University are in substantial
agreement of the facts and we believe that the violations were
secondary.

MS. ROBBINS: This was reported over two years ago.

MR. DEE: I hate to do this, but it is bothering me and maybe we
can do it real quickly. When a student-athlete provides
entertainment for his friends, there is no extra benefit there.
Is that not right? The issue before on the dancing was that the
student-athlete was spending excessively. It just doesn't sit
right with me.

MR. PRICE: I think general interpretation has been that the
student-athletes are free to give to other students. You get
into problems when you get prospective student-athletes because
there are specific restrictions on them.

MR. DEE: Right.
