Japan is the birthplace of Anime. It is a collection of islands off the coast of China, in the Pacific Ocean. The Anime craze began during World War II, as a propaganda gimic to boost morale while Japan's troups fought against the U.S. Ironically, just a few months after these Propaganda Cartoons aired, Japan surrendered to the U.S. However, the Anime trend continued in Japan, giving rise to some of the most time-less Anime classics, such as Astro Boy and Macross.
