Title: Final Fantasy X Genre: RPG (Role Playing Game) Company: Squaresoft Console: PS2 Summary: Tidus, the star of the blitzball team, the Zanarkand Abes, encounters Sin, an evil being whose origins are unknown for the moment, and is transported to an alternate universe where his home city has been destroyed. Tagging along with Wakka (a fellow blitzball player), Lulu ( a stern black mage), and Yuna (a summoner), not to mention a few more very valuable allies, Tidus seeks to destroy Sin before Sin destroys the world. Review: As with most RPG's, the beginning of FFX is somewhat slow, and leaves the player asking, "What the hell?" But after the main introductions are done and the gameplay picks up, attention can easily be directed towards this game for hours. Just make sure to save your game if you suspect a boss fight; there are quite a few of them. As the player will quickly find out, Sin is not the real main threat of the game. A character named Seymour is introduced at the beginning. Too bad Seymour lives up to his name. After each battle with him, the player will find themselves saying, "Doesn't this punk ever die?!" You know what they say -- "Too many fights with the same guy makes Airazor a dull girl." Aeons, also referred to as summons, espers, and Guardian Forces in previous Final Fantasies, are very powerful and extremely useful in battle. While having Aeons like Valefor, Ixion, and Ifrit are nice and dandy, you can obtain more powerful ones like Anima, Yojimbo, and the Magus Sisters (lazy bitches). Bahamut makes his appearance, but he really should have stayed home. Once the King of Dragons, Bahamut now appears to be no more than an oversized fairy. As you bear with the game, you are treated to a number of dramatic dialogues, repetitive battles, and scenes between Yuna and Tidus that just make you want to gag. Also, the traditional self-world map exploring adventure has been taken away. In its place we get good music, excellent graphics, and an over-all not so bad storyline. This is a game worth playing if you really have nothing better to do. ~ Airazor |
