| Half-in, half-out: A double salto with a half twist on each salto Hand Guard: Also known as a Grip or Hand Grip; a glove or wrist strap worn by gymnasts to protect the skin on their hands when they perform on particular apparatuses. Can be performed forwards or backwards Hang: When the body is entirely below the bar(s) or rings Healy: A move on the parallel bars in which the gymnast starts with a handstand on top of the bars, then falls forward, releasing one arm, executing a half turn on the other, grasping the bar again, and continuing the swing High Bar: A gymnastics apparatus used by men in artistic gymnastics. It consists of one 2.4m bar upon which the gymnast swings and performs skills. Also known as the horizontal bar. In women's gymnastics, the high bar refers to the taller of the two bars used in the uneven bars. Hip circle: Revolution around a bar in which the body is kept close to it at hip level Hit: Used as a verb, 'to hit' means to perform a routine at the best of one's ability with no major errors or deductions. May also be used as an adjective to desciribe a well-done routine. Example for verb: "He hit his floor routine tonight." Example for adjective: "She has done three hit routines thus far." |
