| Y-Scale: A position in which the gymnast forms a Y by holding one leg near their head with the other still on the floor. Example: Morgan Hamm in the Y-Scale position. Yamashita: Handspring vault with the body in a piked position before the landing. Created by Haruhiro Yamashita of Japan. Example: Gymnast performs a Yamashita vault. (YouTube video link) Yurchenko: A style of vaulting in which the gymnast does a round-off onto the springboard then a backhandspring onto the horse. Created by Natalia Yurchenko of the Soviet Union.
