Dr. Doom
First appearance: Fantastic Four #5

A monarch with mental problems, Victor Von Doom, better known as Dr. Doom, was driven nearly mad when his mother had been imprisoned in a demonic dimension after her death, and his attempts to free her resulted in an explosion that scarred his face. Doom blamed his college schoolmate Reed Richards for the accident, when Reed had actually warned Doom of accidents, and, due to his vanity, felt that his face had been scarred beyond repair when he had only gotten a small scar. Doom relocated to the far east and encountered a group of monks that provided him with a suit of commanding armor. Impatient, Doom put on his faceplate too early, and the metal was still hot. The burning metal left his face a wreck, and Doom fled to the country of Latveria, where he rose to become it's rulur.

Years later, and still blaming Reed Richards for his scarring, Doom attacked Reed, now Mr. Fantastic of the Fantasic Four, and kidnapped the quartet. They were able to escape and Doom bid his time. He encountered Spider-Man next, once again being defeated. In the years to follow, Doom, obsessive as he is, tried time and time again to defeat the Fantastic Four, encountering failure each time. Over the years Doom mellowed his treatment of the people of Latveria, becoming a very benevolent, and much beloved leader. Doom also aquired a ward named Kristoff Vernard, whose mother had been slain pointlessly.

Being the leader of a prominent European country allowed for Doom to go abroad, encountering the Avengers, the X-Men and countless other super-humans. Doom also fought the armored hero Iron-Man in one battle that resulted in Doom and Iron-Man being sent back to the medeval ages. Doom remained an international problem for the years to follow, stealing the powers of the Silver Surfer and the Beyonder in his quest for power, losing them shortly after. A bitter victory was achieved for Doom when his mother's soul was freed from the demonic realm, but at the cost of her love for Doom.

It appeared that Doom had finally found victory over Reed Richards when the two were seemingly killed in battle. It turned out however that they had just been taken out of time by a future ancestor of Richard's. Soon after their return however Doom, Richards and most of the super-heroes based out of New York were transported into an alternate reality in battle against Onslaught in a fight that seemed to take all their lives. They had actually been taken to a pocket universe created by Richard's son Franklin, and in time the heroes returned. Doom remained on the other world, staying as it's unspoken ruler, until he had to ally himself with the Fantastic Four to save both worlds, and at battles end appeared to have died, his armor now being worn by Richards.

Doom returned to earth in the middle of a desert, armorless and with no resources but was still able to kill a lion with his bare hands. Doom remains at large, and despite the fact he is not on our earth, Latveria has been shown to be under the rule of a Doom-Bot.

Powers and Abilities: A brillient scientist and technoogical genius, Victor Von Doom wears a suit of armor with built in lasers, and defense procautionary weapons.
