Facade
First appearance: Web of Spider-Man #113

Standing for "Full Acclimation Combat And Defense Exo-skeleton", Facade was the product of Morelle Pharmaceuticals, and was originally intended to be nothing more than an example of new breakthroughs in the field of bio-organics, until the Facade armor was taken and used for much more sinister purposes. Created by Dr. Thomas Haney, the Facade armor was taken over by an unidentified attendee of the Facade unveiling, resulting in Haney's accidental death during the mystery pilot's first outing as Facade. Wishing to leave well enough alone, the mystery person left the Facade armor, but was caught on film by photographer Lance Bannon, and rather than have their name sullied they redonned the Facade armor to deal with Bannon. This left us with several possible candidates for the true identity of Facade: J. Jonah Jameson, who went missing during the time when Facade murdered Haney; his son John, who was not around either, and did not have an alibi; wealthy businessman Archer Bryce; Bryce's butler and personal assistant Victor; and rookie Daily Bugle photographer Cole Cooper.

Facade soon returned, in full pursuit of Bannon at the Bugle, and tracking him down in the darkroom while he was developing the pictures, Facade murdered Lance Bannon. Bannon's body was found by Betty Brant, who later attended Lance's funeral along with Jonah Jameson, John, Bryce, Victor, Cooper and Chase Sloan, the detective investigating the Facade murders. For reasons yet to be revealed, the man inside the Facade armor returned to the Daily Bugle to deal with J. Jonah Jameson, but encountered Spider-Man, who tore the armor open but was rendered unconcious. When Spider-Man awoke, whomever was inside the armor had since gotten away. J. Jonah Jameson's name had been cleared though, however he came clean about lying about where his son John had been during Haney's murder. Later that night, the mystery man visited Bannon's grave, remarking how Haney's death was accidental, but Bannon's was cold blooded murder, and now, who ever he was, had now become a hollow facade.

The Facade armor was taken into police custody, and has not been seen since. Who ever was inside the Facade armor remains a secret to this day, though in the time following the Facade incident, John Jameson continued to work as the chief of security at the Ravenscroft Institute for the insane, until he was fired after the Chameleon broke out. Cole Cooper continued to work for the Daily Bugle, covering the Scarlet Spider alongside reporter Ken Ellis, but neither Archer Bryce or Victor have been seen since.

Powers and Abilities: The Facade armor granted it's wearer flight, superhuman strength and the ability to generate energy blasts from it's wrists.
