Hobgoblin V Last appearance: Spider-Man: Hobgoblin Lives #1
Jason Philip Macendale was a government agent who was told that his methods were deemed unruly. This caused Macendale to take things into his own hands causing him to become the Jack O' Lantern. After many fights with his arch enemy Spider-Man, Macendale then sided with The Foreigner to cause the death of Ned Leeds, who was thought to be the original Hobgoblin. Macendale then became the new Hobgoblin, not knowing that the man he killed wasn't the actual Hobgoblin. Macendale fought Spider-Man for years, and eventually made a pact with demons to gain demonic powers. His demonic other would later become it's own being named the Demogoblin, a being bent on aiding the weak and punishing sinners. Macendale also gained more enemies such as Cold Heart and Ghost Rider and he had factored into the heroic demise of Demogoblin who sacrificed himself to save a small child. It was around this point that a new Jack O' Lantern had appeared as well. The Macendale Hobgoblin also recently sided with Norman Osborn and Gaunt, and received new technology and a new costume, only to be defeated by the Ben Reilly Spider-Man and Macendale was imprisoned. After standing trial Macendale admitted on live television that Ned Leeds was the original Hobgoblin. Later that night Macendale was visited by the actual Hobgoblin and was murdered, not knowing that Roderick Kingsley was his actual predecessor. A new Jack O' Lantern has appeared and has brutally beaten J. Jonah Jameson, stalked Mary Jane and had John Jameson under his control. Although not proven it is possible that the new Jack O' Lantern may be the one who fought Captain America several years ago. Powers and Abilities: Macendale has Goblin weaponry at his control and has hi-tech amour given to him by Norman Osborn.
