The Kingpin
First appearance: Amazing Spider-Man #50

Wilson Fisk, the kingpin of crime has been a thorn in Spider-Man's side since Peter had briefly given up as Spider-Man. It was at that time upon learning of Spider-Man's retirement that Fisk decided to reveal himself and organize the east coast crime lords. Peter however returned as Spidey in time to stop Fisk, though. Fisk later planned assaults on Spider-Man, which included attempting to discover his true identity and through the creation and hiring of villains like the Answer, the Spot and Typhoid Mary, all the while fooling everyone into believing he was nothing more than a businessman.

Spider-Man was not the only person bothered by Fisk, the Scarlet Swashbuckler Daredevil, and Fisk's son Richard, who was angered by his father's crime and Richard took on names like the Schemer, the Rose and the Blood Rose, in order to take down his father. Fisk's monopoly on things continued, eventually becoming the most powerful crime boss in New York. Fisk briefly left his rulings as his wife Vanessa gave him an ultimatum. Inevitably Fisk returned back to crime.

However, when Fisk discovered that Daredevil was in fact Matt Murdock and he began destroying his life, Fisk found his power taken away as Murdock faked his death, and took on a new identity. Recently however, Fisk gained back most of his power and nearly cost the X-Men their lives while they fought along side Shang-Chi, the master of Kung-fu. The Kingpin later returned to New York to reclaim his title, and elimenated many of it's current crime lords to do so. Recently an agent of the Kingpin attacked Norman Osborn, trapping him, Peter, Betty Brant and Osborn's grandson in an elevator shaft.

After that Kingpin was approached by the ailing Mysterio, and provided him with the information needed to take down their mutual foe, Daredevil. Kingpin then sent an assasin he had raised to dispose of Daredevil, the deaf young woman Echo. It was after sending Echo after Daredevil, that Fisk had gotten into an accident involving Spider-Man, that cost Fisk his eyesight.

Powers and Abilities: Fisk's massive girth hides his true strength as one percent of his body mass is fat. Fisk is also incredibly intelligent.
