Tangled Web: Flowers for Rhino #6 (September 2001) Peter Milligan Duncan Fegredo
review by jamal chaklader
heroes: Spider-Man
villains: Rhino, Rocket Racer, Gibbon
others: Rhino's Scientists, Simian, Romeo, Stella
Pavlov
the plot:
Finally he
goes to see if Stella was all right because he left her
with no bodyguard. He crashes through the wall and
finds that stella is alright and she is engaged to
Romeo. Romeo screams at Rhino but mixes up words:
inferred and Imply a common mistake Rhino corrects.
Stella is charmed. Romeo sends stella out of the room
and tells rhino the only way to save her is to make a
hit at a restaurant. So Rhino runs there. Then Romeo
sets up Rhino by calling the cops, and tips off Spider-Man
that he is going there. Stella gets mad at Romeo, hits
him with a book and runs of to Rhino. Spider-Man is
waiting for stupid Rhino. he sets up a simple trap
like always but this time Rhino doesn't fall for it.
He hits Spidey with his horn and knocks him out, a
photographer getting it all. Rhino sets the place on
fire and it was going to blow. Stella runs to Rhino and
hugs him. At that time Romeo tries to drive his
car into rhino but Rhino smacks it away. Anyway the
building is about to blow, and spider-man asks stella
to grab his webbing and come up. Then Romeo gets in
another car and tells his fiance to come in the car to
drive away. Stella faced with two good choices hangs
onto Rhino instead.
The next day the Paper reads "Horn
free on Rhino knocking out Spider-Man". The Gibbon and
Rocket Racer are reading in disbelief. Then Rhino
comes into their Jail cell and offers them to work for
him. They accept. One month later Rhino owns a rich
apartment with the best bands and looks more like
Kingpin. Stella is his girlfriend and he already wrote
a novel. When he was reviewing a Hamlet play Stella
tells him that one of scientists would like to see him
in the lab the next day. When he gets there he finds out that
Simian commited suicide. When rhino asked whats wrong, the scientist explains he got
smarter, eventually getting too smart for his own good.
Rhino laughs, thinking how anyone can get
too smart for his own good. Later probably a month,
Stella is screaming at Rhino and saying if he still
has any feelings for her. Rhino laughs and says Love
is stupid (in a smart way). Stella goes back to
Romeo. Rhino then just figures out that was stupid and
he is getting too smart. He goes on a rooftop and calls
Spider-Man (at that time he got so smart he called a
hearing in courts and made a court order that
Spider-Man couldn't go near the Rhino). He gave
Spider-Man two discs with detailed life of his
criminal career told him he could do whatever he
wanted with them. He then went on the same bridge last
issue when he was thinking about suicide. He thought
about dying again then another thought popped into his
head. He went back into the laborotory and asked the
scientists to be dumb again. They obliged. Later Rhino
broke through a wall, and I guess killed romeo who was then married to Stella.
The End
the review:
Nice read not all like Flowers for
Algernon. I got kinda mad that Stella gets married to
Romeo. In my opinion Romeo was a jerk. I liked seeing
Rhino kick spideys butt too. This issue was great.
