the plot: Impressed by the Sandman, a mysterious group springs him from prison and test him to see if he's fit to join their ranks. The Sandman tries to rob a charity benefit to prove himself, but Spidey intervenes and the Sandman's plot is stopped, though he does get away. Having impressed those that released him, the Sandman in then offered a chance to join the ranks of the Wizard, Thundra and the Trapster, as the Frightful Four!
