Amazing Spider-Man #38 v.2 (January 2002)
Straczynski Romita jr. Hanna

Amazing #38 the plot: Peter Parker and Aunt May discuss things, now that May knows that Peter is Spider-Man. They also share revelations about Uncle Ben's death, including that Peter let a burglar get away, the same that would later kill Ben, and that Ben likely ran into the burglar at their house because of a fight that May and Ben had that resulted in Ben being downstairs when the burglar arrived.

the review: The art in this issue was very stylized, and the pace by which Peter and Aunt May's conversation went was quite nice, but did we really need 22 pages for this. And that's not even taking into consideration the fact that this issue was delayed. Perhaps a scene with Peter at school, or even at the Bugle (when's the last time we were there, huh?). Perhaps a more experienced comic writer (and I said comic writer) would have found room to balance subplots in an issue like this, and that is where this issue falls apart. Still, it is nice to see May and Peter bonding like this, so this issue isn't a total loss.

Amazing Spider-Man #38 gets **1/2 out of *****.
