Spencer goes for a ride in a monster truck during a recent trip to the pumpkin patch in Bridgeville, Delaware with Mom-Mom Barb
Mandy- TIRED. With temperatures up to 100 degrees since Sunday, she's on two inhalers, Tussin and Tylox (the last one for post-operative aches and pains). With a little rest and TLC, che'll be okay.
Me- OK. I need to go on a diet, and lost 50 lbs. I'm too bitchy around the house and I need to be more productive, generally, as well. But I'm healthy (the only one!).
My Family- Mom lost her job today. Apparently, her boss is a schizophrenic. My grandmother Mary, 82, is faring well after a hip replacement on the 15th, and recuperates in a nursing home in Cambridge.
Mandy's Family-  Her grandmother just had her kidney stone problem addressed. She's recovering, but the jury is still out on the rapidity of her convalescence.
That is all for tonight. Not a bad day at all. We are blessed. Goob Night.

As I write this, Logan is about to have surgery It got moved up today- I hope there was no reason involving him that prompted this change in scheduling, i.e., the hydrocephalus getting worse significantly overnight.
My mother will be here shortly; we will probably leave after lunch to see him.

TEN                                                                                11pm, Wednesday, 31 July, 2002

Logan did well- again- as he cleared what appears, for now, at least, to be the final hurdle in his stay at Hopkins.
The shunt has been installed, and he has been circumcized. The pedriatic urologist who stopped by as we visited gave us some news I had hoped not to get, but, again, it was something that, deep down, I expected.
Logan will need to be routinely catheterized, according to Dr. Ranjiv Mathews, to make sure his bladder is emptying out, one way or another. This is to be done to drain all residual urine from his bladder, once or twice a day.
Of course, another reason to do it is to establish a routine- that way, a year from now, if his bladder isn't emptying itself on a regular basis, he'll be accustomed to it.
He did well, thoughit looks, according to Dr. Avellino, as though he will be released on Wednesday, August 7th.
    One more hectic week.

Spencer had a fairly decent day until we left home. He was a bear for nearly eight hours. His routine is an absolute shambles- I am working half a day tomorrow, and spending the evening at home with him while Mandy, Lynne and LuAnn go to see Logan. He's been very upset; we don't play with him as much as we usd to, some "Logan" person is all we talk about, the three of us are never home, let alone home together during daylight hours, and he went almost two weeks before Logan was born without spending a day with Daddy.
Spencer needs to find his center. Yesterday helped a little; the next five or six days should help a little more. He'll be alright. Readjusting takes time. Plus, we got another humidifier, which seems to be helping his breathing.

ELEVEN                                                                                10 pm, Thursday, 1 August 2002

Spencer and I had a good afternoon and evening together. He went potty and pee-peed all by himself tonight. He also "helped" with the dishes.
I wish I could take a few days off just to be with him, but I need to pay the bills. So, I'll maximize our play time together.
Tomorrow morning- GI Joe and Spongebob cartoons, a bowl of cereal and a pillow fight...  :-)
