A bird gives the message back to the world, and sings a silent prayer that makes the rain cry. People dis- appear, but they never really go away. The spirits up there put the sun to bed, wake up grass, and spin the earth in dizzy circles. Sometimes you can see them dancing in a cloud during the day- time, when they're supposed to be sleeping. They paint the rainbows and also the sunsets and make waves splash and tug at the tide. They toss shooting stars and listen to wishes. And when they sing windsongs, they whisper to us, don't cry and be sad and miss me too much. The view is nice and I am doing fine.

      Crowded In Heaven
It got crowded in heaven, so, for one day it was decided only to accept people who had really a bad day on the day they died. St. Peter was standing at the pearly gates and said to the first man, "Tell me about the day you died."

The man said, "Oh, it was awful. I was sure my wife was having an affair, so I came home early to catch her with him. I searched all over the apartment but couldn't find him anywhere. So I went out onto the balcony. We live on the 25th floor, and found this man hanging over the edge by his fingertips. I went inside, got a hammer, and started hitting his hands. He fell, but landed in some bushes. So, I got the refrigerator and pushed it over the balcony and it crushed him. The strain of the act gave me a heart attack, and I died."

St. Peter couldn't deny that this was a pretty bad day, and since it was a crime of passion, he let the man in.

He then asked the next man in line about the day he died. "Well, sir, it was awful," said the second man. "I was doing aerobics on the balcony of my 26th floor apartment when I twisted my ankle and slipped over the edge. I managed to grab the balcony of the apartment below, but some maniac came out and started pounding on my fingers with a hammer. Luckily, I landed in some bushes. But, then the guy dropped a refrigerator on me!"

St. Peter chuckled, let him into heaven and decided he could really start to enjoy this job.

"Tell me about the day you died?", he said to the third man in line.
"Ok, picture this, I'm naked, hiding inside a refrigerator.....

My deepest sympathy to you and her family. I haven't seen this board since Friday and what a shock this was reading it now. I had in mind what I was going to post before I read this not knowing of her death. Last I read of the board, there was a little bickering going back and forth. I was going to post...Life is too short. Enjoy each day as if there is no tomorrow. I was going to mention this lady I know...her husband...44 years old died of a heart attack. She found him laying on the floor when she got home from work. As if she hasn't gone through enough grief, she noticed the phone there by his side. She hit the redial...and it dialed her office. She heard someone that morning two weeks ago on the phone breathing but no one was talking...so she hung up. Now she is saying to herself....What if? I told her she can not do that to herself. It is unfair. She said she feels as if her soul has been ripped out. So I was gonna post....he was our age...that could be me....you....or anyone. I don't know where I am going with this really. So let me just say, she will be terribly missed. My deepest sympathy to everyone that knew her. God Bless!

---- Date: 2000/03/20 11:30:53 EST To: All From: ~Crystal Rose~ Subject: "The Jokester" I checked the board last night and was horrified of the news I read. It opened up the wounds I am so desperately trying to close. I dropped to my knees to pray for those who were left behind from her passing and thanked God for taking her home to be with him. This morning I felt compelled to pull out the card from my father's funeral and read it again.

      To The Jokester,
I re-read it, and in your passing, I found a new meaning to the verse. Thank you for all your smiles you gave me every day.

      To her family,
I know all to well the pain you feel, I can only say that your faith and family will help heal the wounds. Someday you may see that God knows best. This is something I am trying to believe every day. The pain is so fresh, and a long time will pass before you will feel comfort. Please know it will happen, it is all in God's timing.
My Love and prayers go out for you.

      To Everybody else,
May the following verse bring you some comfort.

      God looked around his garden
and he found and empty place.
He then looked down upon the earth,
      and saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
      and lifted you to rest.
      God's garden must be beautiful
      He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain
He knew that you would never
      Get well on earth again.
He saw that the road was getting rough
and the hills are hard to climb,
So he closed your weary eyelids,
      and whispered "Peace be thine."
It broke our hearts to lose you
      but you didn't go alone
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.

      Amen

Finally, about 3:00 AM she heard a noise at the front door, and as she stood at the top of the stairs, there was her husband, drunk as a skunk, trying to navigate the stairs.

'Do you realize what time it is," she said.

He answered, "Don't get excited, I'm late because I bought something for the house."

Immediately her attitude changed, and as she ran down the stairs to meet him halfway, she said, "What did you buy for the house, dear?"

His answer was, "A round of drinks!"
