"THE PSYCHIC CARD GAME"

The game goes like this: shuffle a regular deck of cards, and then the other person has to try to guess the top card. This tests their "psychic powers". If they had the right color, they get 2 points; if they guess the right suit, they get 4 points; if they guess the right number they get 20 points; and if they guess the exact right card, they automatically win. And of course, if they get the right color and the right number they get 22, and if they guess the right number and the right suit they get 24. Got it?

Lenny, James, and I (Terry) were playing this game, and keeping track of the score. It was OK, but nobody was guessing exactly right. So I decided to change things up. Here's how it changed:

Somebody shuffles the deck, and then cuts it in half and puts the top half on the bottom. OK? Then the other person has to "identify" a card, within 10 cards from the top, then say where it is and what it is...

Now onto the report:

LENNY'S FIRST WIN

Terry creates a spin on the 'guessing game' they were playing with the cards, by saying that the person guessing can guess where the card is in the deck, within the top 10 cards. Terry is shuffling and holding the cards. James goes first, but is unlucky. Lenny goes next, and on his first try at the new style, guesses an 8 of clubs, four from the top... sure enough, Terry pulls the 8 of clubs, four from the top!

LENNY'S SECOND WIN

Terry shuffles the blue deck, Lenny predicts a 6... but he hesitates saying the suit. He see's a six of hearts 19 cards down. But, the limit down is 10 cards... so he switches his decision to "9". Terry goes 9 down, and it is the wrong card. Just for fun, Terry checks the 19th card down... and, of course, it's the 6 of hearts...!

Also, the 6 of hearts is the exact card that James predicted while Lenny was in the other room, just minutes before Lenny's win! And on top of that, this is again the first time Lenny tries the game, with Terry shuffling and picking them out!!

What are the odds?
Seriously... what are they?!!

RICHARD'S LUCK

Richard witnesses Lenny's huge win, and takes a guess: Queen of Spades, seven cards from the top. Lenny goes through the deck, but the card is a King of Hearts. Oh well. Lenny reshuffles the deck and asks James, who guesses a different card, 7 from the top. Lenny takes out the 7th card, and of course, it's the Queen of Spades.

There you have it... we must be psychic.
