Hi, I’m Scot, real name Stewart. The name Scot was used in the chat room because it’s my nationality, and not my first name! I’m currently 14, but will be 15 on the 9th Dec. I’ve been listening to Runrig for almost two years now, with my first concert being Stirling Castle 2003. I currently live in The Netherlands, and have done for a few years now. I must admit that I don’t listen to much other music, the 20 odd RR albums I have seem to keep me going every night! |

Mary Payne aka Corrieyairack, has been a regular in the chatroom since 1999, in the days when we used to meet in a Mirc room, and a Runrig fan since 1991. She has been to concerts in Scotland, England and Germany and gave up counting after no 40! She first heard of the band when a friend from Grantown on Spey gave her a copy of the TV programme City of Lights. First Runrig Concert It took me ages to convince Roy (hubby) to go to a concert; I bribed him by saying that all I wanted for Christmas was tickets to a Runrig gig, so I waited until June for my present! Tickets were duly booked for a Friday concert in Poole, and I started to count down the days. Then, three weeks beforehand things changed; having been involved in athletics for 27 years I was selected to manage a Great Britain Team in Germany that weekend. I nearly turned down the chance to represent my country, until Roy booked tickets for the Glasgow Fleadh and Bristol instead! I gave away my precious Poole tickets! Best Runrig Concert Tarlair 1994. Having been all round Europe following athletics the European Athletics Cup was held close to home, and what do we do? Let a crowd of athletes ‘borrow’ our house while we go up to Tarlair! The concert was considerably improved by the dreadful weather; all the crowd united in adversity and the band gave of their best for us! Worst Runrig Concert Stirling Castle 19th Aug 1994. The stage was at the top of the slope, so with varifocal specs I couldn’t see any of the band’s faces. Our part of the queue was held back and we were further away from the stage than I expected, and right by a group that kept blowing whistles! Most Surprising Runrig Moment Being in the swimming pool at the Dunblane Hydro with Calum and Donnie. Comment I have met many wonderful Riggies of all nationalities and many have become really good friends. Why then is there so much unpleasantness on the Runig Message Board? |

My name is Chris MacKinnon, i am 27 years old and i hail from Kilmuir which is in the northwest of the Isle of Skye. I am currently living in Aberystwth will my fiancee Kirsty who is in the Uni down here doing a post graduate course. Its okay in this neck of the woods, but the scenery leaves a lot to be desired!! I left school in 1991 and went to work on a creel boat in Uig on Skye and stayed with that job until 1997 when i got a job with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary as a deckboy. I then got my Able bodied Seamans certification. In September of last year i started doing my HND in nautical science and qualified in Cctober this year as a 2nd Officer deck.. I have been all over the world with the merchant navy and its a good life. I have been to The Gulf, Carribbean, far east and Africa where we were involved in providing aid relief to the people of Mozambique after the terrible flooding there. I am currently awaiting my next trip away which i am looking forward to very much. Hopefully i will still manage to see the Lads playing in Wolverhampton on the 1st of December. If not i will be gutted. I have been a fan of Runrig for many years. My first concert was in 1989 in the Inverness Ice Rink which was a great night and very enjoyable as the tickets were won from a local newspaper in a competition. My last concert was in the Barrowlands last xmas. I missed the 30th Anniversary due to work commitments. the thing that i love about Runrig's music is that, no-matter where i am in the world, all i have to do is put on one of their CD's and i am back home in Skye again. I've listened to many bands from Scotland and no other has the same ability to do that for me. When they release a new album, it always surprises me that they seem to get better and better. To be able to do that after 30 years is quite an achievement!! So that's my little insight into me and my life. The picture is from a holiday in Mallorca last year where i was sampling the local beer. It was purely for medicinal purposes you understand!!! Hehehehehe!! All the best a h'uile duine. |
